SPOKANE, WA: The One Heart Native Arts and Film Festival is excited to announce this year’s headlining performer— acclaimed singer, songwriter, and activist Buffy Sainte-Marie. Sainte-Marie will perform on Friday, October 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bing Crosby Theater, showcasing her newest album "Medicine Songs." The album is a lifetime in the making and is, perhaps, Sainte-Marie’s most powerful gift. It includes both new material and contemporary re-recordings of some of her older songs.
Sainte-Marie’s music speaks out about the environment, alternative conflict resolution, indigenous truth, and fighting corruption. Sainte-Marie is a unique force in the music industry, where her artistry, humanitarian efforts, and indigenous leadership have made a positive impact for decades.
"Songs can motivate you and advance your own ideas, encourage and support collaborations and be part of making change globally and at home," says Sainte-Marie.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see one of our nation’s most influential and powerful voices!
The One Heart Native Arts and Film Festival will also feature the film Drunktown’s Finest, short films by local and regional Native filmmakers, an artist’s workshop with J. NiCole Hatfield, the One Heart Art Gallery, and fashion show.
